City View

Overview:

“City View” is a vibrant mixed-media animated photo. This photo is a visual representation of my experience listening to the song “Pyramids” by Frank Ocean on my daily commute to work.

Made in Blender and After Effects

Highlights:

• Used Blender’s Shader nodes to create and animate masks for the rain textures on the car, which were fed into After Effects.

• Used Adobe Fresco to draw in the character.

An example of the rain masking texture. Instead of attempting to mask the rain completely in After Effects, which increase frame render time by 100x, I opted to already use the UV mapping of the car model to allow the rain to fall naturally on the surfaces.
